What does the patient leaflet for voriconazole say first?

The FDA-approved Medication Guide or Patient Information that comes with the medicine, in its own words.

From the patient leaflet: What should I avoid while taking VFEND?

You should not drive at night while taking VFEND. VFEND can cause changes in your vision such as blurring or sensitivity to light. • Do not drive or operate machinery, or do other dangerous activities until you know how VFEND affects you. • Avoid direct sunlight. VFEND can make your skin sensitive to the sun and the light from sunlamps and tanning beds. You could get a severe sunburn. Use sunscreen and wear a hat and clothes that cover your skin if you have to be in sunlight. Talk to your healthcare provider if you get sunburn.

From the patient leaflet: How should I store VFEND?

Store VFEND tablets and oral suspension at room temperature between 59°F to 86°F (15°C to 30°C). Do not refrigerate or freeze. • VFEND oral suspension should be thrown away (discarded) after 14 days. • Keep VFEND tablets and oral suspension in a tightly closed container. • Safely throw away medicine that is out of date or no longer needed. • Keep VFEND, as well as all other medicines, out of the reach of children.

Is there a generic for voriconazole (Vfend)?

The FDA approved the first generic voriconazole on April 22, 2010. 28 generic applications are approved; 23 of them carry a current (not discontinued) marketing status in Drugs@FDA; that status is not evidence that the generic is on sale.

FDA's NDC Directory lists voriconazole from 31 labelers under a generic (ANDA) application and from 2 brand labelers. A listing means the company has registered the product for sale; it does not show that every pharmacy stocks it.

What do pharmacies pay for voriconazole (Vfend)?

In CMS's NADAC survey of October 7, 2026, pharmacies paid $1.88 per Voriconazole 200 mg tablet, down 2% from $1.92 on October 8, 2025. The chart's scale runs from the lowest to the highest price shown, not from zero. NADAC is what retail pharmacies paid their wholesalers, per unit, in CMS's monthly survey; what a patient pays depends on insurance and the pharmacy.

Has voriconazole been recalled?

The FDA's Enforcement Report lists 10 recalls naming voriconazole since 2013: 0 Class I (the most serious), 9 Class II, 1 Class III; 2 still ongoing. 6 of them are by firms that FDA's NDC Directory does not list as a maker of voriconazole and that hold no application for it in Drugs@FDA, such as compounding pharmacies or bulk-ingredient suppliers; the recall notice names the product recalled. A recall names products and lots, not every product of the medicine.

What do FAERS reports show for voriconazole?

The FDA Adverse Event Reporting System holds 30,201 reports that list voriconazole among the medicines taken, through July 30, 2026, each a report of something that happened, not proof the medicine caused it; 8,851 are coded as a death and 12,143 as a hospital stay. Counts follow how widely a medicine is used and watched, and they are not a measure of how risky it is.
