How it was measured
Drugs@FDA (openFDA bulk): the earliest approved ANDA per medicine, from 2025-01-01; FDA NDC Directory for the generic labelers listing it now; CMS NADAC for whether a generic form is priced.
What it cannot show
An approval is not a launch: patents, exclusivity and settlements can hold a generic off the market after approval; a NADAC price shows pharmacies bought it in the survey week, not that every pharmacy stocks it.
