Carbamazepine's FDA label of August 20, 2026 names protriptyline in its contraindications section; the protriptyline label PlainMeds reads does not name carbamazepine. The carbamazepine label: “… the tricyclic compounds, such as amitriptyline, desipramine, imipramine, protriptyline, nortriptyline, etc. Likewise, on theoretical grounds its use with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors is not recommended.”
