What the FDA labels say about taking them together
Isoflurane and rocuronium
Isoflurane's FDA label of January 5, 2026 names rocuronium in its drug interactions section, and rocuronium's label names isoflurane too. The isoflurane label: “In general, anesthetic concentrations of FORANE at equilibrium reduce the ED 95 of succinylcholine, atracurium, pancuronium, rocuronium and vecuronium by approximately 25 to 40% or more compared to N 2 O/opioid …”

What does the rocuronium label say about isoflurane?
Rocuronium label, drug interactionsUse of inhalation anesthetics (enflurane > isoflurane > halothane) has been shown to enhance the activity of other neuromuscular blocking agents.
Rocuronium label, warnings and precautionsCertain inhalation anesthetics, particularly enflurane and isoflurane, antibiotics, magnesium salts, lithium, local anesthetics, procainamide, and quinidine have been shown to increase the duration of neuromuscular block and decrease infusion requirements of neuromuscular blocking agents [see Drug Interactions ( 7.3 )].
