Ranolazine and Cyclosporine Interaction

Drug interaction information between Ranolazine and Cyclosporine.

Ranolazine and Cyclosporine have a documented minor interaction in FDA labeling.

FDA drug labeling documents a minor-severity interaction between Ranolazine and Cyclosporine. This page displays the available source-record category and label text. The category is not an individual risk estimate or medication-combination direction.

Drug A

Ranolazine

Late Sodium Current Inhibitor (Antianginal)

Drug B

Cyclosporine

Calcineurin Inhibitor (Immunosuppressant)

How They Interact

Cyclosporine blocks a protein that helps remove ranolazine from the body, and both drugs can affect how the other is processed.

FDA Label Information

( 7.1 ) P-gp inhibitors (e.g., cyclosporine): Ranolazine exposure increased. Doses of other sensitive CYP3A substrates (e.g., lovastatin) and CYP3A substrates with narrow therapeutic range (e.g., cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sirolimus) may need to be reduced with ranolazine. P-gp Inhibitors Concomitant use of ranolazine and P-gp inhibitors, such as cyclosporine, may result in increases in ranolazine concentrations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What SPL severity band is on file for Ranolazine + Cyclosporine?

Compiled FDA labeling labels this pair minor. That is a source-record field, not an individual medication-combination decision.

Which drug in this pair has the larger labeled-interaction portfolio?

Cyclosporine has 89 labeled pairs on file vs Ranolazine's 31. In the minor band specifically: Ranolazine has 12 (also Diltiazem, Fluconazole, Verapamil, Erythromycin); Cyclosporine has 60 (also Adalimumab, Amiodarone, Amlodipine, Anidulafungin).

What mechanism field is on file for Ranolazine and Cyclosporine?

Cyclosporine blocks a protein that helps remove ranolazine from the body, and both drugs can affect how the other is processed.
