Lidocaine's FDA label (Lidocaine Hydrochloride And Dextrose) of February 20, 2026 names propofol in its drug interactions section, and propofol's label names lidocaine too. The propofol label: “Pain during intravenous injection may also be reduced by prior injection of intravenous lidocaine (1 mL of a 1% solution).”

Concomitant use of lidocaine with propofol, a hypnotic agent and CYP3A4 inhibitor, may increase lidocaine plasma levels by reducing lidocaine clearance.
