What the FDA labels say about taking them together

Cyclosporine and dibasic/monobasic

Dibasic/monobasic's FDA label of February 28, 2025 names cyclosporine in its drug interactions section; cyclosporine's label does not name dibasic/monobasic itself but warns about its class (potassium salts). The dibasic/monobasic label: “Products that Increase Serum Potassium Administration of Potassium Phosphates Injection to patients treated concurrently or recently with products that increase serum potassium increases the risk of severe and …”

Check it at the source: the cyclosporine FDA label on DailyMed (effective August 10, 2026, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation); the dibasic/monobasic FDA label on DailyMed (effective February 28, 2025, Fresenius Kabi USA, LLC).

What does the cyclosporine label say about dibasic/monobasic?

Cyclosporine's label does not name dibasic/monobasic itself; it warns about its class (potassium salts):

Caution is also required when cyclosporine is coadministered with potassium sparing drugs (e.g., angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor antagonists), potassium-containing drugs as well as in patients on a potassium rich diet.

What does the dibasic/monobasic label say about cyclosporine?

Dibasic/monobasic label, drug interactions

Products that Increase Serum Potassium Administration of Potassium Phosphates Injection to patients treated concurrently or recently with products that increase serum potassium (e.g., potassium- sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor antagonists, digoxin, or the immunosuppressants tacrolimus and cyclosporine) increases the risk of severe and potentially fatal hyperkalemia, in particular in the presence of other risk factors for hyperkalemia [see Warnings and Precautions ( 5.3 )].
