What the FDA labels say about taking them together
Cimetidine and clomipramine
Clomipramine's FDA label of November 26, 2024 names cimetidine in its drug interactions section; cimetidine's label does not name clomipramine itself but warns about its class (Tricyclic antidepressants). The clomipramine label: “The plasma concentration of CMI has been reported to be increased by the concomitant administration of haloperidol; plasma levels of several closely related tricyclic antidepressants have been reported to be increased …”

What does the cimetidine label say about clomipramine?
Cimetidine's label does not name clomipramine itself; it warns about its class (Tricyclic antidepressants):
Cimetidine label, drug interactionsDrug Interactions Cimetidine tablets, apparently through an effect on certain microsomal enzyme systems, has been reported to reduce the hepatic metabolism of warfarin-type anticoagulants, phenytoin, propranolol, nifedipine, chlordiazepoxide, diazepam, certain tricyclic antidepressants, lidocaine, theophylline, and metronidazole, thereby delaying elimination and increasing blood levels of these drugs.

What does the clomipramine label say about cimetidine?
Clomipramine label, drug interactionsThe plasma concentration of CMI has been reported to be increased by the concomitant administration of haloperidol; plasma levels of several closely related tricyclic antidepressants have been reported to be increased by the concomitant administration of methylphenidate or hepatic enzyme inhibitors (e.g., cimetidine, fluoxetine) and decreased by the concomitant administration of hepatic enzyme inducers (e.g., barbiturates, phenytoin), and such an effect may be anticipated with CMI as well.
