What the FDA labels say about taking them together

Clarithromycin and estradiol

Estradiol's FDA label of April 3, 2024 names clarithromycin in its drug interactions section; the clarithromycin label PlainMeds reads does not name estradiol. The estradiol label: “Inhibitors of CYP3A4, such as erythromycin, clarithromycin, ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, and grapefruit juice, may increase plasma concentrations of estrogens and result in adverse reactions.”

Check it at the source: the clarithromycin FDA label on DailyMed (effective April 9, 2026, Solaris Pharma Corporation); the estradiol FDA label on DailyMed (effective April 3, 2024, Amneal Pharmaceuticals LLC).

What does the clarithromycin label say about estradiol?
