Captopril and sacubitril/valsartan

Captopril's FDA label of February 6, 2026 names sacubitril/valsartan in its contraindications section; sacubitril/valsartan's label does not name captopril itself but warns about its class (ACE inhibitors). The captopril label: “Do not administer captopril tablets within 36 hours of switching to or from sacubitril/valsartan, a neprilysin inhibitor.”

Sacubitril/valsartan's label does not name captopril itself; it warns about its class (ACE inhibitors):

CONTRAINDICATIONS ENTRESTO is contraindicated: in patients with hypersensitivity to any component in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor or ARB therapy [see Warnings and Precautions (5.2)] with concomitant use of ACE inhibitors.

Sacubitril/valsartan label, drug interactions

Blockade of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System Concomitant use of ENTRESTO with an ACE inhibitor is contraindicated because of the increased risk of angioedema [see Contraindications (4)].
