Dabigatran Dronedarone increases dabigatran plasma exposures by inhibiting the P-gp transporter [see Clinical Pharmacology (12.3) ] . In patients with moderate renal impairment (CrCL 30–50 mL/min), reduce the dose of dabigatran to 75 mg twice daily when concomitantly administered with dronedarone. In patients with severe renal impairment (CrCL 15–30 mL/min), concomitant use of dronedarone with dabigatran should be avoided.

Multaq is a medicine that helps lower the risk of needing to stay in the hospital for atrial fibrillation (AFib). It is for people who have a history of AFib and are currently in normal heart rhythm.
This medicine can help prevent strokes in people with an irregular heartbeat called atrial fibrillation. It can also treat blood clots in your legs (deep vein thrombosis or DVT) or lungs (pulmonary embolism or PE). Dabigatran can also lower the risk of these clots coming back. It is also used to prevent blood clots after hip replacement surgery.
Multaq is used to lower the risk of hospitalization if you have atrial fibrillation (AFib). AFib is an irregular heartbeat. This medicine is for people who used to have AFib, but are now in a normal heart rhythm.
Dabigatran is a direct thrombin inhibitor. Thrombin is a substance in the blood that helps clots form. By blocking thrombin, dabigatran helps to keep your blood from clotting too easily.

Dabigatran has two important warnings. First, stopping this medicine too early can raise your risk of blood clots. Do not stop taking it without talking to your doctor. Second, this medicine can cause bleeding around the spine if you get an epidural or spinal tap. This can lead to paralysis. Tell your doctor if you are going to have any spinal procedures.
Multaq can increase the risk of death, stroke, and heart failure in patients with severe heart failure or permanent AFib. You should not take this medicine if you have severe heart failure that recently required hospitalization or if you have permanent AFib and will not be converted to a normal heart rhythm.
Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Dabigatran may increase the risk of bleeding in the fetus. Breastfeeding is not recommended while taking this medicine.
Multaq can harm an unborn baby. If you are a woman who could become pregnant, use effective birth control while taking Multaq. Do not breastfeed while taking Multaq and for 5 days after your last dose.
